XVIII. Mind and Supermind

We have been striving for a conception. Page No.159
It is of the essence of the supramental life. Para No.1
The divine soul possesses that life.
It does so in Sachchidananda.
It is secure in its possession.
Ours is a body of Sachchidananda.
It is formed here.
It is in the mould of a mental and physical living.
We envisage this supramental existence.
It has no connection with our life.
Nor does it have any correspondence with our life.
Our life is active between two terms.
They are the two firmaments of our normal existence.
They are the mind and body.
This is the life we know.
It is rather a state of being.
It is a state of consciousness.
It is a state of active relationship.
It is one of mutual enjoyment.
The disembodied souls possess such life.
Their experience is in a world without physical forms.
There differentiation of souls has been accomplished.
The differentiation of bodies is not accomplished.
It is a world of active and joyous infinities.
It is not one of form-imprisoned spirits.
A reasonable doubt arises.
Whether a divine life is possible with this body.
The mind is form-imprisoned.
It is of form-trammelled force.
This is what we know as existence.
There is a supreme infinite being. Page No.159
It is conscious-force and self delight. Para No.2
Our world is a creation of that being.
Our mentality is its perverse figure.
We try to conceive of that being.
Divine Maya, Truth-Consciousness, Real-Idea are there.
There is the transcendent and universal Existence.
It has a conscious force.
It conceives, forms and creates the universe.
It governs, orders the cosmos.
The cosmos is its manifested delight of being.
We are trying for an idea of it.
There are four great divine terms above.
There are three others of our human experience.
Mind, life and body are they.
We have not studied their relationship.
There is the undivine Maya.

It is the root of all our striving and suffering.
It develops out of the divine reality of the divine Maya.
We have not scrutinised it.
We have to do this.
We have to weave these missing cords of connection.
Till then our world is unexplained to us.
The unification of the higher and the lower will then reveal to us.
Our world has come forth from Sachchidananda.
It subsists in His being.
He dwells in it as Enjoyer, Knower and Lord and Self.
We have seen the dual terms of sensation, mind, being, force are
His representations.
They represent His delight, His conscious force, His divine
existence.
They are actually opposite of what He is.
We dwell in the cause of these opposites.
We are contained in the lower triple form of existence.
So, we cannot attain to the divine living.
Either we must exalt or exchange.
Exchange the body for the pure (living) existence.
Exchange life for pure conscious-force.
Exchange sensation and mentality for the pure delight.
That delight is also knowledge.
They live in the truth of the spiritual reality.
Ours is earthly mental existence.
Must we abandon this for its opposite.
Above there is a pure state of Spirit.
There it is a world of the Truth of things.

It may exist or other worlds may be there.
If so, it will be divine Bliss, divine Energy and divine Being.
If so, the perfection of humanity is elsewhere.
It is not in humanity itself.
There is a summit of earthly evolution.
It may be a fine apex of dissolving mentality.
From there it takes a great leap into formless being.
They are worlds beyond the reach of embodied Mind.
Creation of the universe is creation of forms. Page No.160
The four divine principles do it. Para No.3
Such action is necessary for creation of forms.
We call it undivine.
This is the reality.
The divine creates these forms in his existence.
These forms are inside the divine.
They are not outside the divine existence.
They are within the conscious-force and bliss.
They are part of the working of the divine Real-Idea.
The higher divine consciousness can play in a world of forms.
There is no reason to deny it.
Mind, etc., represent higher consciousness.
We feel they distort the higher.
We assume it is necessary.
As they are the immediate support, we feel, there must be a
distortion.
Mental consciousness must distort, we assume, the higher
consciousness they represent.
We think of the energy of the vital force likewise.

Even the formal substance is like that to us.
All these are not necessary.
The divine Truth has the Mind in its pure form.
Body and life too have their pure forms similarly.
It is possible, even probable.
This arrangement is part of a whole arrangement.
The supreme Force works through that.
Mind, etc., are capable of divinity.
Science reveals to us one terrestrial cycle of a single birth.
Mind, etc., have a form and works in this period.
It is a short period.
Mind, etc., have a large potential.
They work in the living body.
These potentials are not exhausted in one birth.
Mind, etc., work as they do because they are separated from their
original Truth.
They are separated from the consciousness of the Truth.
Their work proceeds from the Truth.
This separation can be removed.
It can be done by the expanding energy of the Divine in
humanity.
Then, their present functionings will be converted.
It would be converted by a supreme evolution.
It is a progression into a pure working.
That is there in the Truth Consciousness.
