Notes:

Comment on Appa's Daily Messages Volume 1-554. All values, standards, rules, ethical principles, social and cultural norms are relative. Each serves a purpose in the evolution of consciousness. Therefore no absolute judgements of our actions or those of others are valid. Selfishness and laziness in the infant are natural whereas they are rightly frowned on in the adult. Selfishness is a necessary stage in the evolution from the subconscious member of the collective to the conscious individual. Egoism precedes and is supplanted by spiritual selflessness and self-giving. There is a stage prior to egoistic selfishness in which the person is not yet sufficiently developed to pursue its own self-interest and only submits and obeys others. For that person, selfishness can be a progress.
