Non-reaction, Ego, and Spiritual equality

Non-reaction is an essential spiritual discipline. Reaction is a the sign of our attachment to ego, desire and ignorance. Complete freedom from reactions comes only in the supramental consciousness where spiritual equality is perfect and ego, desire and ignorance are completely dissolved. The mastery of reactions begins when the mind ceases to be a slave to the vital and physical and ego and detaches itself. It then is able to bring the lower parts of being somewhat under the control, but it is the control exercised by the ignorant, egoistic mind. The next step is to detach from the mind and seek the inner being, self, purusha, and eventually realize the psychic. Psychic realization frees us from slavery to the reactions of the lower nature but our nature remains impure and ignorant. Psychic transformation enables the psychic to purify, refine and master the parts of our outer nature, but they still remain ignorant expressions of the lower nature until the supramental transformation. Mastery of our nature occurs in stages. Mastery at one level raises challenges at a deeper level and therefore reactions may continue to pursue us up until the final supramental transformation in the physical being. But each stage of equality gives us greater mastery over ourselves and our lives, higher forms of accomplishment and spiritual experience. Detachment, rejection and non-reaction  are essential for the descent of the Divine Shakti to purify and transform our lower nature and fill our outer life with Divine Grace.
