DAILY MESSAGES
Series XVI 301) As we can neither receive all the Sun gives
or all the air in the atmosphere, when Sri Aurobindo gave his ALL to
each one of us to become HIM, we never realised what we never
received.
perceptive wise men can think of writing endless series of proverbs which are
condensed experience of wisdom, as the vision sees in a trice what the world
lives over a thousand years. 303) Mean
pettiness desires to build itself at another's expense and destroy the
beneficiary, while magnanimous generosity tries to deliver to another what is
unavailable by his best efforts. It is freedom that enables both to act.
characteristic folly of a rational man is his hope of convincing the culprit
of the wrong of the crime. 305) Formula

the physical as the Force emerges there unorganised. Tyranny
is to force oneself to tyranise another. 308) The
capacity to deny needs the strength of generosity while giving does not call
for such strength in view of the natural propensity of expansion. 309) Riots are physical urgency reminding the
failure of the mind and vital to act. The energies of the physical are
enormous, and unless drawn into higher absorption will explode. 310) A violent stir anywhere in the society is
an occasion for the volatile section to move into action thus emphasising the
integral wholeness of the society. 311) Reading the biographies of the great and
the men of genius, one can see by his own response to the situations they
were in, how much of greatness is there in him. 312) Greatness lives in adventure that is
danger. 313) Greatness needs great acts to survive. It
creates its own needs. 314) Resourcefulness is genius in action. 315) An adventurous thought makes for an
audacious phrase. 316) Churchill's phrases have become immortal
as his words were the mental expression of a whole act born of his physical
substance. 317) Punishment for a crime is decided on who
did it, not what he did. Acts like crimes are assessed by who does them. Life
and society are stratified. 318) Greatness creates the tradition of
breaking all existing ones. And then he follows a path no one can
predict. 319) Our nature can say, even to an experience
of ecstasy after some time, that it should end. 320) It is his own nature man is frustrated
with. 321) He whose greatness expresses in higher
quality longs for an expression that is quantitative. 322) Speaking to another about The Mother
drains when it is on our initiative. What drains is the initiative. 323) Courtesy flowering as conscious
appreciation of talents in another is an emotion that can help mind cross its
borders of inhibition. 324) Philosophy raises thought by precision of
concepts; poetry enriches ideas by emotions that consent to the conversion
into sentiments. 325) Greatness cannot escape notice, but it
will only receive the regard its social status deserves. 326) Genius by virtue of being genius cannot be
restricted to any one field, though its preference may be in one area. 327) Vision penetrates the vigour of violence
to discover the Brahman behind it. 328) The virtue of non-complaining may lead to
insensibility or even issue from it. 330) Money is the touchstone of generosity in
practice. Sensitivity is its Spiritual counterpart. 331) Growth in the horizontal can be infinite,
not in the vertical. 332) Genius does not feel inhibited in any
field however remote it seems to be. 333) Obedience in the right spirit can
accomplish anything in the society where it is born. In
a society of a higher order, at best it will be left out.
தராத

the other is courtesy. 335) Work of a genius edited by scholarship is
a sun of the overcast skies. 336) Letting out excessive nervous energies in
skillful physical action is delicious. It is ecstasy to raise the planes of
action to the mind and Spirit. 337) One who remembers many who have forgotten
him is playing the role of God. 338) Witticism is the greatest resource of an

in places that require experts. 340) Leadership develops in a community as a
whole when they disregard the dominant power their position develops. 341) The greater understanding of the readers'
needs by the publisher than by any individual writer, is an indication of
collective maturity preceeding individual pioneering. 342) Achievements of greatness in one century
become accepted ways of life in the coming centuries. Long after, the
greatness is reproduced or excelled in different ways. That is the way of
unconscious growth. Consciously the entire society can institutionalise
greatness for total effect that is immediate. 343) A professor who knows the international
events in the historical perspective could explain the life of one who made
history in the spirit of that historical unfolding. One
who knows the infinite's ways in his own mind, can present the Lives of The
Mother and Sri Aurobindo from the yogic records they have left as the origin
of world events.

the maximum minimum. He who created
untouchability becoming the untouchable is the ripe time for transformation. 347) Analogy will deteriorate if quality is to
explained in quantity and the result will either be grotesque or go awry. 348) No ideal can be practised effectively by
the energies of a complex. It cannot even be benefitted in the best sense by
dynamism. 349) Genius is spurred by the contact of
genius. 350) An inspiration that comes to an end cannot
be that of a genius. |
