Speaker(s):
Mr. Garry Jacobs
Notes:
  • Is there a saturation point for Money? We shouldn’t set a mental limit when the infinite is trying to manifest itself.
  • Peace - The first requirement to open ourselves to what’s higher i.e. Truth consciousness - Peace, calm, quiet, peace is the basis for this yoga. Mother says Spiritual Equality is the foundational quality of the supramental consciousness.
  • Decision is the act of will that converts consciousness into power. Organizing the decision through one’s personality will lead to accomplishment. What does it mean to organize the consciousness in ourselves? Manners are the superficial expression of controlling our energies. Manners are ways to organize our consciousness.
  • Sri Karmayogi says that our progress is at the tether ends of our personality. Effort lies in shifting from the external manners to the mental organization of our understanding i.e. our belief or opinion.
  • Self-control at the physical level is the essential step for the organization of our personality and the development of the expression of our higher consciousness in life.
  • Human personality is full of impulses and urges and is not organized. Sri Aurobindo describes the human personality in Synthesis of Yoga as “the bundle of conflicting motives and ideas and impulses and working sometimes in contradiction to each other”.
  • Romance Eternal: Sri Karmayogi gives the ten levels of Harmony for eternal romance and the first step is Good manners. Good Manners are people who are well-mannered, don't complain, don’t react, try to dominate, or try to change the other.
  • In the Pride and Prejudice story are there any characters who succeed in not judging another person? Jane’s perfection in manners and behavior qualifies her for the maximum. Jane refused to think badly of Bingley when he disappeared. This is an example of Spiritual discipline.
  • Sometimes people with good manners are taken advantage of, how do we reconcile this? Example of Jane’s manners. By becoming conscious and by understanding life responses. As long as we are out of our ignorance, goodness in manners has power. If we remain ignorant, we can be exploited. Perfect manners supported by knowledge will make one not vulnerable.
  • Perfect manners are perfect self-control at the physical level. Perfect behavior is control over our own opinions and beliefs and knowledge, and to arrive at the right conclusions from our experience. Pygmalion Effect: Our judgment evokes and determines the manners and behavior of the other person. Spiritual method of increasing the power of our personality: Become conscious of our own limitations and defects and try to eliminate them rather than focusing on the defects of others. The energy of our aspiration expresses itself through the organization.
