Speaker(s):
Mr. Garry Jacobs
Notes:

Should we start consecration from acts which are physical and unconscious or from higher more conscious levels of our being -- e.g. thoughts, aspirations, etc.?

  • An act is a microcosm -- each physical act contains all the deeper and higher levels of consciousness within it from the subconscious to the supramental consciousness.
  • Two methods: Horizontal is to exhaust your efforts at surface level and when you complete it, go to the next deeper level. It is like Hourly Consecration that can begin on the surface and gradually become deeper and richer. Vertical method is to go to the deepest part you can reach and intensely consecrate, concentrate, aspire from that level. It is the method of three day calling. Both methods can be used according to the person and the situation. Good manners are physical. They start on the surface and try to become deeper and higher and more sincere. Spiritual values starts at the highest point of our mental consciousness and tries to express in lower planes.

Physical is the least conscious part, but we live in the physical consciousness and mostly we are more conscious of our actions more than our deeper inner experiences. So the principle is start from where you are. If you are conscious of your thoughts relating to an act or your feelings or vital reactions, start with those higher components. Otherwise start with the physical events and try to awaken deeper levels of consciousness.
