Equality and Consecration

Notes:

Equality and consecration are closely related but not the same. Striving for equality is a precondition for complete consecration and surrender. Equality means a shift from the surface lower nature, desire and ego, and to be freed from slavery to it. Only then can we fully consecrate an act by offering both the fruits and the action itself to the Divine. Consecration is also a means to strive to overcome the egoistic reactions and attachments in life, so in this sense consecration can also be considered a method to achieve equality. But passive equality by detachment does not necessarily imply consecration, since the ascetic can withdraw from his surface nature without offering it to the Divine or transforming it, whereas consecration always strives to offer our lower nature to the Divine and transform it by letting the Divine take over the act.
