Rules for Giving Advice and Taking Decisions
In giving advice, pure motive of goodwill to the other person, disinterested unselfishness in the advice, detachment from our own desires and ego and the desire to give advice or be appreciated for it, withdrawal from our own opinions and preferences, looking at the issue from the other person's point of view, withdrawal into inner silence and consecration of the issue to Mother to know Her Will and Truth are conditions for giving the best advice. Often it will come when we remain silent and just listen to the other person, creating an atmosphere that helps them discover it for themselves. In making decisions, the very same conditions apply -- detachment, disinterestedness, aspiration to know Thy Will -- the best possible, and not just what I prefer or want or fear -- openness to Truth, impartiality, absence of lower desire and ego, faith and reliance on the Divine. For both advice and decision-making, the four-quadrant decision-making matrix is the best guide to identifying and impersonally examining both the internal and the external conditions. With that knowledge, consecration becomes very powerful and effective. Decisions made from the highest values ultimately yield the highest possible results.
