Notes:

What does the "integral" stand for in Integral Yoga? Many things. The traditional triple path of Gita is through Knowledge, Devotion or Works and the goal is to use the power of one of the instruments -- mind, heart or vital will -- to seek spiritual liberation from life. Sri Aurobindo says perfection of any of the three parts is only possible when the other two are also perfected -- the is the Integral Yoga of Self-Perfection. It integrates all three paths of yoga. It integrates knowledge, devotion and physical works. It integrates life and spirit, individual-universal-transcendent, soul and nature. IT arrives by integral experience at Integral Knowledge of  the Integral Reality which is the Supreme Ishwara and the Supreme Absolute. Traditional yogas are yogas of the mind in which the Divine oneness is viewed in division and the infinite and the finite appear to be totally different realities. Integral Yoga is based on the supramental knowledge of the indivisible oneness of God and the world, spirit and matter, individual-universal-transcendent.
